1. In the novel, Trauma by Michael Palmer, one of the biggest emotional impact for me was in chapter two. I enjoyed Ms. Jordan’s talk of her experience working through her sexual trauma. What I found most respectful is how Ms. Jordan was aware that medication would only numb the underlying pain and feelings of the past trauma. Even though Ms. Jordan knew medication was not the answer for her, she used medication to help her get through the holidays until she could receive a holistic treatment. When she described her experience of taking a shower and freezing but didn’t remember the trauma at that time until receiving an EMDR treatment. I respect her courage to open up and share a personal experience of such nature with the world to see.…
There are three bones that meet to form you knee joint. There is your thighbone which is you femur, you shinbone which is your tibia, and you kneecap which is your patella. Articular cartilage covers the ends of the tibia and the fibula, also the back of the patella. Bones are connected through ligaments, our knees have four main ligaments. Two of the ligaments in our knee is the medial collateral ligament (MCL), this ligament prevents valgus (force from the outside of the knee, forcing the knee inward) stress to the knee and lateral collateral ligament(LCL), this ligament prevents varus (force from the inside of the knee, forcing the knee outward) stress to the knee.…
No one really knows when the right time to do or use something is actually the right time. Whether it’s even the right thing that’s done is an opinion itself and differs from person to person. During World War II, the United States used an atomic bomb against Japan. The making and dropping of an atomic bomb both have severe repercussions resulting from it that should always be taken under consideration, because the use of nuclear weapons are no joke and should not be taken lightly. Even though dropping an atomic bomb can bring a sense of security to a country in a time of war, the extreme and dangerous risks result in consequences towards many countries and the people and economies within them.…
As a standard of the American Counseling Association, providers ethically should maintain a healthy well-being (Warren et al., 2010). Learning and practicing how to stay healthy is the counselor’s responsibility to uphold. Vicarious trauma occurs within a mental health professional after emotionally involving himself/herself in the client’s trauma as a response to personal traumatic history, current stressors, or trauma within his/her support system (Dass-Brailsford, 2007, p. 293). Compassion fatigue is similar to vicarious trauma but occurs at the expense of listening to a client’s trauma and negative reactions form as if the counselor was directly experiencing the event (Dass-Brailsford, 2007, p. 294-295).…

This chapter of the Lipsky book truly brings together the purpose and goals of trauma stewardship. The responsibility to we have as social workers in the field and that in which our clients entrust us to maintain to provide the best practice with sound mind. The concept that each of the four directions described in the previous chapters are linked and that link is the central system. Without maintaining our center it becomes difficult to encompass the other four, inquiry, focus, compassion and balance; and viewing them as a whole is essential. Reflecting on centering oneself I understand more now the concept of self-care.…
1.) Biological (including neurobiological), psychological, social, and developmental factors that are important for understanding the child’s behavior. Some of the biological and neurological factors that would be considered in this case are the effects of trauma on the child’s brain development. Applegate& Shapiro (2005) explained, “Thus, while the brain is thought to remain plastic and responsive to new experience throughout life, early childhood experience is particularly salient because the neuronal organization and structure of the brain is still in its formative stages” (p. 15).…
