Decent Essays
The introduction is very good and it does give you an idea of what the paper is about. The writer mentions his main points through the paper and it engages the reader to the paper.

The content is very good and the topic sentences develop each paragraph towards the content of the writers ideas. It just needs a litlle more organization for some of the concepts he is expressing

The writer did an excellent job with his conclusion. It is very strong and it has a satisfying ending. I think it is my favorite part of the essay because he was focusing on what he wanted to say and its not

The nonfiction book On Writing Well by William Zinsser is about nothing more than what the title itself implies it to be. The book is divided into four parts: “principles,” “methods,” “forms,” and “attitudes.” The first part is about how to write with simplicity so that the reader will understand by removing unnecessary words and putting the right ones with the right meaning for what is trying to be said. Overall, doing so without having to completely take away the parts that give style to our writing. The second part is about the structure of writing; Zinsser gives helpful information on how writing should begin and how it should end.…

Writing Analysis Looking through my past work, I found an essay which I enjoyed writing. The essay prompt was on explaining how dangerous war has become. I was really into the prompt but the research on it was limited so I couldn’t really get far with my sources. While reading the essay I noticed the paper sounded as if I wrote it the night before(which come to think of it…

The preface tells me that this book is mainly about students’ writing, and these students’ papers are selected from the best papers that were written by UCSB students. In other word, it is an students teaching materials. From reading starting line, I can improve my writing skill and change my writing style as I read plenty of high level papers, and this give me an brief standard of what is the standard for a good English course paper. One different that I noticed is Starting Line uses students’ writing examples as “articles,” and it makes Linguistic students more easier to understand since the language that students write are similar. Another interesting point that I notice from reading the first essay is that most of the articles in Starting…

My experiences with writing have been somewhat limited until I signed up for English 101. I have to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. I never felt like I was any good at writing, and spelling is still not my strong suit. I always felt like I was better at math. My attitude towards writing was my biggest hindrance to my success.…

The river might be a lot of help for Colorado like the water can be used for electricity but it could be harmful to the wildlife animals around the river dam. It would be sad if you killed millions of animals just for electricity but it save a lot of many. The river could also knock the trees down because they are very small and there are many animals that live on those trees. The river could overflow to the cities in Colorado and flood them, causing lots of damage to the civilians and their homes. It’s effective but not effective enough like don’t start off with how your day's going and what you did with your life.…

    Essay On My Writing Style

As I look back to the writing I have done the past couple of years the first things I think of are rushed deadlines, automated essay prompts and constant cramming. Throughout my high school years the focus of writing assignments shifted from a method of self expression to a type of formula needed to pass many of the Advanced Placement exams. Although I did enjoy the freedom writing gave in my younger years when I was still given an opportunity to voice my thoughts and opinions, I have not grown fond of the writing style imposed upon me during my later high school years. The assignments were regurgitated College Board prompts given to me and my classmates by a teacher trying to prepare us for an exam that would not just reflect on us, but ultimately brand their reputation as a teacher. The goal of writing was neither to properly express and communicate with the world, nor was it to simply become better writers for our own benefit; it was to learn the formula in order to do well on a single exam.…

It feels a bit scattered and doesn 't feel like it is in order. Your paragraph about his information is fine but I think it needs to be orangized. Does the writer introduce the article’s name, the author’s name, and the main point/argument of the article? Is it effective?…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…

My History As A Writer Throughout my lifetime I have come to love and absolutely hate writing. The reasoning of the assignment or topic has a lot to do with my affinity and disgust. Although learning new things, like writing, was something that I loved doing in elementary school, that all changed when it was daily implemented. As an art form I recently come to love writing down my thoughts, ideas, opinions and stories.…

“A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.” ― Thomas Mann. Writing is a subject that is different for everyone. In my opinion if I could write about a topic I choose and I am passionate about I know my papers would be interesting to read. On the other hand, I when I am given a topic to write about I think it is harder to make the paper interesting and enjoyable to read.…

It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts.…

Describe Yourself As A Writer I’ve come to realize that after years of writing papers, I’m actually a better writer than I give myself credit for. I’ve noticed over time that I’ve advanced in how I structure my paragraphs, however, not so much with my sentences. It’s like making a cake look delicious at first glance with frosting and decorations, but then you take a bite and there 's way too much sugar or it 's overcooked in the inside. My strength in writing includes: using better words to describe what I’m writing about, spelling complex words, creativity, and passion.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
