Nutrition Case Study Family Health

Question 1 The family health condition that should be considered when evaluating my diet is diabetes and obesity. Both sides of my family have a history of diabetes. I also saw my aunts and grandmother getting fat due and being overweight. However, it is not because of their diet, it is due to aging. I am personally little overweight myself. However, these health conditions do not affect my food choices. I do realize that I should watch what I eat to reduce my weight, which will make me healthier. However, I do not purposely pick and choose what I eat for my diet.
Question 2 Over the three days, the average calories were 1198, but my daily calories needed is 1800. This indicates the probability of weight loss. However, it does not reflect

To begin with, I am not eating adequate amount of calories because I skip breakfast and try to eat with the things that I have around me. I am not meeting required nutrient needs in all categories except protein, fat, sodium, and empty calories, probably because I eat fast foods for lunch. In order to meet the calories needed, I should stop skipping breakfast and plan my meals instead of buying food so that I eat more nutritiously. I should eat more snacks such as nuts or fruits in between meals to meet more nutritional needs. This way, I can avoid eating bad snacks that increase empty …show more content…
Two weaknesses that my current diet has are that I am still below the needed requirements for many nutrients and that I am not eating fruits at all. In order to overcome the weaknesses, my first goal will be to eat at least one whole fruit every day. This way, I can meet mineral and vitamin needs, as well as fulfill my fruit group. Following my sample meal plan, I will pack snacks such as nuts, yogurt, and fruit. Whatever I packed, I will eat it that day even if I am not hungry for my nutrition needs. As for my second goal, I will try to eat breakfast every day to increase my calorie need and meet nutritional needs. First, I will get up earlier so that I have time for breakfast. Then, following my sample meal plan, I will drink half to a cup of milk and fruit along with toast for my carbohydrate
