My family is a big part of my cultural identity because they are the ones that taught me how to be the person I am today. I was born into a big, loving family. A couple months after I was born, my brother and I were baptised into the Catholic church. My parents decided that it would be good for me to get educated at a Catholic school, so when I was three I started pre-school at Saint Mary’s. I attended that school until the end of my eighth grade year, which allowed me to learn about my faith and to grow into the person I am today. Since moving up from Saint Mary’s School to Hoquiam High School, I still try to attend church every Sunday and I teach third graders Sunday school in my parish. This is why my faith makes up a big part of my cultural identity.
The last big part of my cultural identity is my best friends who have been there for me through everything. I have a couple of friends that it would be impossible to live without. Many of my friends I have known since I was in elementary school or younger, who are the people I grew up with. They know more about me than anyone else. They know what I like to do, what I like to eat, and how I spend my free time. They also know how to pick me up when I am feeling down and they can make me laugh in any situation. These are the people that I love to spend time with and I always look forward
