Original thought is a thing of the past. It is very uncommon to find a sequel that is even as close to as good as the first one. Some horror movies were just not produced well, whether due to bad casting or boring and dull plot lines, and every year has this event. Although bad movies like this still exist, it is becoming more and more common. Movie companies are starting to become all about the money with the same goal of “Ok as long as people just barely find it entertaining, maybe we can make a sequel”. Series like the 11 too many Jason Voorhees slasher films, or the 7 Saw movies, lose their sense of character as each movie is released and the original thought becomes distorted and eventually lost. I predict that future horror movies will be made to entertain people, and not so much scaring us psychologically.
I think that people voluntarily scare themselves for the purpose of challenging their line of reality. Horror movies can take you down many different paths, but all with the same goal of scaring the viewer. So going back to the line of what is and is not me, I believe that facing this line through horror can make you a stronger person. For me if I were to watch the same movie over and over again, I won’t be scared of it anymore. In this sense each movie I watch would challenge my barrier of reality and strengthen me as a
