Once I began English 101 I will admit that I was worried that I wouldn 't meet the expectations of college writing. In my past high school career I did well as a writer but many times have I been told that I lack a handful of writing skills. Such as grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and as we called it flow. I wasn’t able to keep my readers attention and I felt as if my writing skills were below average. As I began my first semester of college I was anxious about how I would turn out in my English class. To my surprise it wasn’t that bad and I saw what i was capable of and what I can do to improve my writing. As a result I have ameliorated my writing skills and capability. With all my experience as a writer I believe I am ready to advance into my next class.

I was delighted to receive praises from my current professor and my fellow classmates. Some frequent comments I have received from them were on how interesting my writing is , how I give a good amount of background information, and how I have provided a good quantity of

I believe these areas are the most difficult for me because I can’t grasp the habit of correcting these mistakes. The most difficult for me are both tenses and mixed sentences. I believe I will be able to improve on these areas by the time my next english class begins.

My English 101 class has taught me to look closer at my writing and see my work in a new perspective. Not only that but it has taught me a modern way to cite my outside sources. I immediately jumped onto the computer to view your comments and feedback. A few items that stood out in your feedback to me were my topic sentences weren’t as strong as they could be; I had some grammatical errors with my commas verses semi colons and with fragmented sentences. I spent my next few essays improving these items. When you were generous and offered us the option to improve one of our assignments I jumped at the chance to prove to myself that I could improve my essay and as a bonus I was able to finally achieve the A grade I wanted. Looking back at the changes in my writing style and the expansion of my knowledge on the different types of writing while taking your class has improved my skills and I find myself enjoying the writing process from beginning to end albeit only in your class, and only when I have an assignment due.…

Before beginning this course, I knew that I lacked confidence within my writing. People say that you are your own worst critique, and I fully agree with that statement. My writing was not terrible in some aspects, but I knew that it needed to be improved upon. I lacked the experience needed because writing was not something that I did on a daily basis. When I first started English 1302, the little confidence that I had significantly plummeted since my writing seemed childish compared to other students.…

I tell how I felt while reading, how I was surprised I was.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…
