• T: Group one lets gather on the back carpet for our mini lesson.
• Students leave desks and come to sit on the back carpet around me. The rest of the class works on their rotation’s assignment.
• T: As you know we have been talking about inferring during our rotations. This is important work because it allows us to be good readers and use our prior knowledge and clues from the text to draw conclusions and form an understanding of the text. Today, while you are reading Ghosts in The House I want you to use your knowledge and clues from the book to help to

The book is called Ghosts in The House and I see on the back cover that a young girl is running into her parent’s room with a frightened look on her face, and they are all wearing pajamas. I think this book is going to be about a young girl who finds ghosts in her house during the night and she wants her parents to come see them.
• T: Did you notice how I used what I know from prior knowledge about when people are wearing pajamas that usually means it is night time to come to the conclusions that the girl most likely will find the ghosts during the night time. I know that she will find ghosts because I am using clues from the Title.
• T: Before you start reading I want you to remember that good readers make use clues from the book and what they know to understand what is going to happen in the book based on events in the book and what the characters say and do. Not all of the information is directly written in books so it is important to use your knowledge and details from the book to determine what the author wants you to

• T: I want you to each read until the end of page 8 and then stop and think about what you have read and what you think is going to happen.
• T: I will have one student individually read out loud to me. (This is how my coaching teacher keeps track of the students’ reading progress)
• T: Once each student has read to the end of page 8 we will stop and discuss what we have read.
• T: Before reading I thought that the young girl was going to find ghosts in the in her house during the night and want her parents to come see them. So far my inference has not been confirmed, but now I have more information from the text to revise my inference. I now know that she lives in an old farmhouse and she is hearing noises in her attic at night. She thinks that a raccoon has gotten into the attic and is causing the noises. I know from my prior knowledge that sometimes animals do get into attics, so I infer that Virginia will go into the attic and find some type of animal up there.
• T: I now want you to turn to your knee partner and discuss with them what inferences you gave made so far about the book.
• T: Have the group turn back to me and we will discuss this together.
• T: What inferences have you

In the following I will be comparing two scenes from The Haunting, written by Nelson Gidding and Shirley Jackson; directed by Robert Wise. The first scene I will be analyzing is the one where we first meet Eleanor, and the second scene will be when she first arrives at Hill House. My focus on the comparison will be the beginning phases of Eleanor's struggle between the diurnal world and the nocturnal world. The diurnal world being "the external [world] – cultural and institutional, it is "light" ... familiar and common. The other world, [nocturnal] is the internal one – primitive and intuitive; it is dark ... unfamiliar and unknown" (Bunnell, 81).…

When entering the classroom, I could see on the other side of the room, against the windows the wall was filled with books, as well as bins in the back of the classroom. The wall is switched out each month with different books that go along with the unit.…

The children demanded that she was doing it wrong and were, “hanging close to see what would happen” (Harjo, 49). Why do we read literature and how do we judge it? In C. S Lewis 's classic book An Experiment in Criticism comes from the conviction that literature exists for the elation of the reader and that a book shall not be judged by the reading but by whom the reader is. Throughout the book, Lewis discuss’ his theories about why that is true, starting by separating the readers into two groups, one the “literary” and the other the “unliterary”. He processes by outlining a few of the differences between the two types of readers.…

After developing an introduction it is time to get to the main aspect of lesson planning, the learning activities. This is how a teacher presents the information and explains it to his or her class. It is important for teachers to plan multiple ways of explaining each topic in case the students are having difficulty grasping the information. The next is developing a way to test the students understanding whether it be asking them simple questions at the end of a lecture or creating an assignment for them to do. The last step to developing a lesson plan guideline is creating a conclusion and a preview for the next lesson.…
