Which is, a man who wants to protect and be with his love, but he has a dark battle with himself. When he says “I wanna hide the truth,” and then retracts with “there’s nowhere we can hide” it shows the uncertainty of, if he should be with his love or not. Meaning, he wants to protect this girl from the negativity and dark side of the world, but he can not, his dark side holds so much power over him. In the song, he says, “don't wanna let you down, but I am hell bound,” which in my view means, he wants to do everything for this girl to be happy, but he knows that he can not change and his future is not a good one. In this story, the character is dealing with challenges in life and love. The character wants to be with this girl, but his inner demons will not let him be with her. Specifically, the tale about a boy who does not believe he deserves the girl he loves. This song speaks about a message, that most people go through. That is, you have to be truly happy with yourself before you can fully commit to one person. As well as, knowing that the person you are in love with, deserve better than you. Furthermore, modern day ballads are used today in rap and pop songs. Now they are fast paced and used to relate to a younger population.
