The football team uses the word Redskins as representation and wear it with pride. Never have the Washington Redskins disrespected or mocked the Natives in any way. Now, due to the 3rd case presented to us in the article about a white male, barefooted and dressed in full Sioux regalia and a headdress made of turkey feathers with a painted face dancing like a fool, not having any clue what he had on or what he was dancing even represented is disrespectful. Going back to my first example of Rocio Durcal representing Hispanic Mariachi music, if she were to have been drunk on stage impersonating Mexican people/ Mariachis drunk and acting disrespectful, it would be a blow to the Hispanic culture and of course very humiliating. One thing is to use the Indian as a mascot but, it should be done with honor and respect. If this halftime performance was orchestrated well and with thought, having a whole professional choreography played out to where it was done beautifully, then there would be no arguments or any ill feelings toward the mascot. As you can see now in days when so many people of the same race come together they are so powerful and are able to make almost anything they want to happen.
