During WWII the Nazi Regime came to power in Germany. A genocide started to occur and it was called The Holocaust. The goal of the Nazi regime was to exterminate all of the Jewish people concentration camp is ¨a camp in which people are detained or confined, usually under harsh conditions and without regard to legal norms of arrest and imprisonment that are acceptable in a constitutional democracy¨ During world war Auschwitz is a specific concentration camp that the Nazi regime made and it was known as the largest concentration camp. It is located in Poland. In Auschwitz there were three different camps inside of it. All of the camps were used to forced labor. The three camps were Auschwitz I, Auschwitz-Birkenau (Auschwitz II), Auschwitz-Monowitz (Auschwitz III). …show more content…
They used many tactics to get rid of the Jews. One of the methods were the gas chambers. Auschwitz-Birkenau had 4 different gas chambers in that specific camp. About 6,000 people were killed just with the gas chambers each day. The prisoners were told to take off all of their clothing and jewelry and told to take a ¨shower¨. When in the chamber the Nazi men released the gas very slowly so that the victims´ death would be slow and painful. In the chamber there are scratches because when the people realised that they were getting poisoned they were trying to escape. The gas was called the final solution. It included carbon monoxide and pesticide Zyklon B (acid).
Another method was starvation and diseases. The living conditions that the prisoners stayed in were very disgusting and unsanitary so they got sick very easily. The lack of food was another factor because it caused the prisoners to starve to death. They had to do a lot of labor work through their days in the camp. This made them weaker and weaker everyday because of the lack of food they received. Auschwitz III was known as the main sub- camp. This camp was also known as
