The moment the words slipped from her fathers mouth she saw Joe Noyes fly out of the shed like a bolt of lightening. Nelly heard her father yell to the sheriff and then watched him as ran after the man. The sheriff then ran through the shed, right past Nelly nearly knocking her to the ground, after Camden who was pursuing Noyes. Noyes, who still had the revolver, turned around and fired a warning shot and then yelled, "i don't want no trouble ya hear". The farmer ducked into the house at the sound of the shot to get his rifle. The sheriff continued to pursue but now with his weapon ready. Camden ran back out of the house holding his reliable 30-30.
