Integration of Mediation and Advocacy
The integration of mediators and advocates into a social service agency is imperative; more often than not clients are uneducated in regards to their privileges and civil liberties and it is up to the professionals to preserve these rights for their clients (Community Mediation Services, 2010). Mediators are a key component to a social service agency because they encourage communication between feuding parties. This is especially encouraging for minority groups who would otherwise be living less substantial lives due to their lack of knowledge of human rights.

With the purpose of maintaining nonbiased while mediating for feuding parties involved with the Planned Parenthood process, it is vital to the success of the mediation process that the mediator has pre-existing bias or partiality to individuals who have decided to either start a birth control regimen or schedule an abortion. Planned Parenthood is an important decision that must be faced in many relationships and families across the country. Whether it is a teenage couple who has decided that they are going to become sexually active and want to take the necessary precautions, or a teenager and her family who are trying to deal with an unwanted pregnancy; a mediator for Planned Parenthood accept these conditions regardless of their own personal values and beliefs. The mediators at Planned Parenthood are obligated to maintain their neutrality if their ultimate goal is to help both parties through this difficult time in their lives. If an individual does not agree with the prescribing of birth control or abortion due to religious beliefs or personal values, it would not be wise for that individual to mediate for an agency that provides both of these
