Llewelyn and his wife, Carla Jean, are two examples of revamped archetypes. Llewelyn embodies a similar nature to Harry Fabian, the main character from the film “Night and the City.” Throughout both films, other characters comment upon their inexperience in the criminal world and therefore the characters appear innocent. However, until their deaths at the ends of their movies, both characters are able to survive the chase, outsmart the bad guys, and therefore appear apt for their positions in each story. However, Llewelyn Moss is a new twist on the confident yet incapable character that is exemplified in Harry Fabian. Harry cons people into helping him advance while Llewelyn is more resourceful and doesn’t want to take help from anyone. While Harry earns dishonest wealth in pursuit of the American dream of comfortable living, Llewelyn earns dishonest wealth by chance and then works honestly to hold onto that wealth in order to achieve the same American dream. Llewelyn is a sense of hope in the fatalistic world he is placed in as he holds onto his morals throughout the film by attempting to protect his wife and those who helped him along the way, rather than simply using them without care of their well-being as Fabian
