According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, there are approximately 1.6 billion Christians, 1 billion Muslims, and roughly six million Jews. These are more than numbers, these represent real people who live and die each day. Granted, Christianity makes up a large portion of believers but it is quite common to come across those who hold different views. When that happens, Christians should respect the people and listen to what they believe to understand their religion and in turn share their Christian faith. However, Christians should reject the other religion, but still can become friends with non-Christians. If do not convert, then continue to love and pray for them. In college I study with a diverse religious group of friends every day. Each of us embrace a different faith. One of my friends is Jewish, one is Muslim, one is Catholic and I am non-denominational. Catholicism and Protestant are still both Christian, but Judaism and Islam are non-Christian. This does not get in the way of us being friends and we all have things in common. Many of our values are even the same. There are theological truths that we share in common, but the the fundamental truth about salvation differs, which is why Christians should insist on the superiority of their truth. John 14:6 states, "Jesus answered, "I am the …show more content…
When it comes to the Christian attitude towards other non-Christians, I do not believe that they should marry unless they are both Christians. The reason I believe this is because I have dated an atheist before and we saw the world in two distinct ways because we both had a different set of values. I personally believe that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have an almost equal amount of similarities and differences between them. Thats why I find it hard to believe that they can't accept one another's beliefs and get along. One of the more obvious similarities would be that the three religions believe that there is "There is only one…

At face value, the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight tells of a knight who is challenged by a Green Knight to show the decline in the knighthood, but that is only the literal interpretation. Throughout the story, there are many parallels to the Christian faith seen. The Green Knight places the young knight in a trial just like God might do to Christians. The Green Knight mentions that if Gawain seeks him, then he will be found which is very similar to when Christ says that if we seek, we shall find. The motif of the number three as seen in the Bible for example Peter denying Christ three times and Christ rising after the third day is seen, as well.…

One of the most common misconceptions of Americanized Christianity is this Christianity is, itself the perfect model of Christianity. Our manifest struggles with the meaning of Christianity, and its application within our social structure has set to define the United States as a “Christian” nation – that is a nation founded and built upon a foundation of Christian principle. This misguided idea has lead many to defend a quasi-theocracy that was never intended to be the fundamental tenet of our national existence. Throughout United States history, this quasi-theocracy, built upon jaded interpretation of biblical text, doctrine and dogma has been employed to divide, conquer and oppress humans in conditions such as chattel slavery as well as…

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. " Anabaptists throughout the centuries have exemplified these words of Christ in both speech and action.…

Christianity, a religion known the world over however, It did not start this way and its rise to preeminence was fraught with alienation, destitution and persecution. Christianity follows the belief that a man named Jesus who was a great teacher of his time and regarded by his followers to not only be a prophet but in fact the flesh and blood incarnation of God. Came to this world in order to redeem mankind whom in the eyes of God had been willingly lead down the path of sin, though their trespasses had apparently not warranted an extinction level event such as found in the story of Noah and the flood. Instead he chose a different route and gave to mankind a message of love and toleration for one another. The Jewish leaders and Roman officials…

What my husband's advancement to Chief Petty Officer means to me? The answer of that question could be 10 pages long or I could just resume what I feel in one word, "extremely proud", well I guess two words. I met Christian 16 years ago, he was full of energy, funny, and he had the ability to turn any sad or bad situation into a joke making everybody laugh; that is what make me fell in love with him. On the other hand, he was a little immature, unfocused when it comes to work, and nothing seemed to fulfill his expectations. I always knew that his passion was a career in the military, but that was out of question in my book!…

Many people in the world today have decided that a world view does not matter; that everyone can simply believe what they would like to believe, and it would not make a difference. However, this is not true; a man’s worldview determines his every act! Rewind 1950 years. At this time, a movement involving only a handful of nations was gaining strength. A people that were discriminately called Christians were spreading their ideas and experiences. These people were looked down upon, persecuted, and hated by the majority around them. They preached something entirely different than what the rest of the world had heard before: a message of love and grace and acceptance no matter the circumstance.…

“Set your affections on things above; love one another; commune at the table of our Lord in one spirit; worship in spirit and in truth; and if daily adoring, imploring, and living the divine Life, Truth, Love, thou shalt partake of the bread that cometh down from heaven, drink of the cup of salvation, and be baptized in Spirit,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in 1898 (Christian Science Versus Pantheism). Mrs. Eddy (as she is colloquially referred to by her followers) was the woman who came to found the Christian Science religion, based on the metaphysical New Thought movement, in 1879 (Christian Science, “What is Christian Science?”).
