Oak Forest Research Paper

While living in Oak Forest my life was as simple as it could be, I had many friends and family there with me so I always was able to do fun activities with my friends. School was very simple and easy, I didn't have much homework and I had a good amount of friends there. I was very content with my life at the time, then it happened. My mother tells us that we are moving to Orland Park which I couldn't believe. The only bright side I could see of the situation was that I knew some friends from Orland Park so that meant that I wouldn't be all alone. Nonetheless, I was devastated, I was leaving the place where I've spent 13 years of my life in, the only home I've ever known so of course there are going to be emotions all over the place for everyone …show more content…
At the end of the school year I did all that I could so I was obviously upset with leaving. I began to spend time with the friends I knew in Orland park and was hoping that I would at least go to the same school as them so that I could know some people in my school. It just so happens that I got very unlucky and went to the school where I didn't know a single person, Orland Junior High (OJH), which is exactly what I was afraid of. This was the start of a new chapter in my life. As the school year started it turned how I imagined it to be, standing alone with nobody to talk to while everybody else reunited with their friends and talked about their summer. Another thing that gave me a punch into reality was the level of difficulty the grading system and classes in this school was. I was so used to the slow paced education but in OJH I wasn't able to keep up, the math classes were the ones that gave me trouble especially because of a math program that I had no idea about. I spent tireless days and nights doing homework when I usually would be grabbing something to eat with my friend from the store. I had some acquaintances but no real close

This was okay with me though, I am actually always up to meeting new people, so I didn’t have any issues going around meeting new people at all. I’m not really the shy type that won’t socialize and even though I had previously been homeschooled, for several years, before coming back here, I feel that I actually had better socialization skills than most of the people here which just goes to show that the stereotype of having to go to public school to learn socialization and also that people from public school are better socializers is completely false. Aside from meeting new people and the new building, it was a major adjustment having to get on a “regular” schedule of waking up at such an early hour every morning, having to go to school from 7:40am to 2:40am, and all the different classes that I was forced to take. Previously at online school, it wasn’t mandatory that you did every class every day, so I would actually chunk it up and do different classes each day, so it wouldn’t get too dreadful like it is here. All this school stuff though is relatable to when Jeannette was going to the different schools and locations and had to adjust to her surroundings, get to know people, and try to fit in the best that she could.…

The administrators came to our school to tell us about middle school and not one of my friends or people I knew said that they would get to Shadow Ridge. They all said that they would go to Rocky Top. I had one person say that they were going to Shadow Ridge. They were one of my best friends.…

New England Forests When the pilgrims arrived in 1620, they cut down most of the forests in the New England area in order to clear land for farming and to build houses. However, from 1850 to 1950, many people abandoned farms in favor of jobs in the textile industry. Others moved away because the land in the Midwest was cheaper. In any case, once these farmers left, the forest ecosystem began to recover. Seeds were carried to the abandoned fields by animals and the wind.…

The world is such a big and beautiful place, with so much to see and do. If I could go anywhere, regardless of money, I would travel out of the country. Visiting other countries and seeing different cultures and the landscapes, would be neat. There are so many places to choose, but if I had to pick one I would go to Brazil to visit the Amazon Rain Forrest, because the Amazon is home to the biggest and most beautiful jungle in the world.…

In 2006, I began my journey at The Valley School as a first grade student. Moving over from my previous school, which I had attended from the time I was three until I was six years old, was fairly smooth. I had friends who made the switch with me and, being the social butterfly I was, making new friends was a breeze. In the first few years as a student, I saw Valley move into three buildings.…

Naturally, us humans can become scared. Fear can’t just be limited to traditional “spooky” things like spiders, as things like large crowds, adulthood, school and mental concepts terrify people. The most terrifying thing I’ve experienced, with my subjective fears in mind, was my all-too-sudden move from California to Michigan in late 2016. The song “Fragments” by An Unkindness, which I recently discovered, presents the fear I had with social perfection, rejection, and loss of relationships. Late 2016, my parents had let me know that in the next 2 months, we would be leaving our home in Carlsbad, California to a new house near Detroit, Michigan.…
