Loneliness In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

Oftentimes Many people in the world wonder if loneliness is really something that everyone goes through or is something of little significance, but it is. In the book “Of Mice and Men” There were many important themes that had significance to the book. “Of Mice and Men” emphasizes that loneliness is in many people including Curley’s wife, George, Lennie, Slim and many other characters in the book. Loneliness was portrayed in many different ways like in the scene where Curley’s wife was talking to Lennie about her life and how she never gets to talk to anyone, which is one of many examples. The theme of Loneliness is something that many people can relate to and is something the book truly emphasizes to show to us that loneliness is something that is natural for humans to go through. …show more content…
In the book Curley's wife is often seen as a attention seeker, as it states, “I get lonely,” she said. “You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley” (87). This can explain to us that characters including Curley’s wife go through the struggle of loneliness. Curley’s Wife talks to Lennie about how she can not talk to anybody because of her husband that always is strict and makes her boundaries because she is the only women on the ranch. Due to these boundaries and Curley, she wanted more attention because she was lonely. This example can truly exemplify the loneliness that occurs in curley’s wife and how she is impacted from it, to the way she acts and how she feels
