Onboarding is the process by which new hires are emotionally, physically, and professionally integrated into the established culture and operations of their new employer (HRZone n.d). Onboarding involves new employees adjusting and acclimatising to their new job (the role), their new place of work and their co-workers.
The function of Human Resource Management is to manage the human capital of a firm, including onboarding. The process of onboarding needs to be implemented throughout the entire organisation. This leads to a harmonized approach in achieving the organisation’s strategies. Onboarding involves everyone in the firm, ranging from the lowest skilled workers to the CEO.
