Palpation is one of the oldest clinical skills that practitioners utilised, such as in the example of breast, to feel for hard lumps as an indicator of malignancy. But what do you do when you want to be able to palpate the structures or tissues that cannot be directly palpated? Modern technology has the answer. Elastography assesses the biomechanical and structural properties of tissues by measuring stiffness. In Elastography, tissue is compressed and the degree to which it distorts is assessed.
