Umpqua Community College shooting On October 1st, 2015, a 26 year old student, Christopher Harper-Mercer, fatally shot nine people and injured nine others at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. Students reported that the shooting was in his English and writing classroom, where instead of bringing his books to class that day, he brought his firearm. One survivor, Tracy Heu, stated to CNN news that “he came in and shot towards the back of the wall while telling everybody to go to the center of the room.
