Egan (2016) does not sugar coat his purpose, in fact, he ends his op-ed by stating the obvious hoping it can change Donald’s Trump perception of immigrants. “What forces someone to leave a home, family - everything- is desperation. And then, more often than not, having seen the worst that life can offer, those families becomes the best”(Egan, 2016, para. 14). Egan (2016) firmly believes that should be no resentment towards a person who wants to prosper in life. If their own country cannot supply them with the proper care, job, education, why is it a crime to seek more? These are the people who should be filling up college campuses and job interviews! His argument is more credible than someone who just despises Donald Trump for personal reasons. Egan (2016) still manages to convey his audience by breaking down Donald Trump’s plan.
