Patient Mood: A Case Study

Patient arrived on time for this interview. Patient mood was appropriate with congruent affect and was casually dressed. The patient was alert and oriented. The patient disclosed that he has earned six take home doses of methadone. Patient participated in the completion of his initial NC TOPPS (NC Treatment Outcomes and Program Performance System) interview. Patient asked questions he had regarding treatment. Patient disclosed, "My wife and I are here because we want to stop using drugs." The patient's drug screens were reviewed and presented positive results for mood-altering substances. Patient was praised for getting into the methadone to receive treatment for his addiction. Patient received praise and stated he will continue in treatment.
