As I became knowledgeable and expose to different situations, I realize that not all cultures are the same. Although there are a huge factors to consider when relating to racism not everyone behaves in that manner. I have worked in environment that has shown me that African American can be treated fairly. I have experience situations that I had special privileges because of my work ethics and not because of my culture. I have been denied several jobs as well that I was aware that I was being discriminated. I have been expose to being on both side of the fence and it has help me grow as person. Results indicated 7 macroaggression themes directed toward this group: (a) invalidating racial-cultural issues, (b) making stereotypic assumptions about Black clients, (c) making stereotypic assumptions about Black supervisees, (d) reluctance to give performance feedback for fear of being viewed as racist, (e) focusing primarily on clinical weaknesses, (f) blaming clients of color for problems stemming from oppression, and (g) offering culturally insensitive treatment recommendations. The impact of these racial macroaggressions was found to be detrimental to Black trainees, the supervisory relationship, and, indirectly, to clients of color.
