My summer place, Lodhpur
Located at 23.89N, 72.24E, Lodhpur is one of the smallest villages in Gujarat, India, but it holds a big place in my heart. It’s where my grandparents grew up and it’s the home of my dad’s childhood. Each summer I visited my grandparents in Lodhpur to take care of them, and it always turned into an adventure filled with excitement and curiosity. The warm breeze, the scorching sun, sleeping under the moon and the love in my grandparent's eyes are some of the things I dearly miss about Lodhpur after moving to America six years ago. My summer place is where I can set myself freely into nature and better understand my life and its origins.
My family lived in Mumbai and it was about twelve hours away from Lodpur. We always took the train to Lodhpur because not only was it much cheaper but much more exciting. I still remember playing cards with my brother and getting lost looking at the countless acres of land outside the train. Once we reached the station, we would be greeted by our grandparents with kisses on the cheeks. We would later drive to the village in my grandpa’s old Premier Padmini. The events that occurred in Lodhpur helped me understand my responsibilities as a human being which translated into future goals. The history, the love and the natural world which I experienced during my visit to Lodhpur have shaped me into a more wiser person and gave me a stronger grasp on life. My memories in Lodhpur are very precious to me and one day I hope to visit the village to fulfill my dream. I would never forget my times at Lodhpur as they have not only been amazing but truly life
