Agriculture was important to the economy of the county, but changes had decreased individuals operations because companies were overtaking the industry. There was an increase in machinery for agriculture operation; manufacturing plants arrived in the area which brought their own employees, which migrated into Sander County. Local canning businesses employed Latino seasonal migrant workers, many of which ultimately stayed permanently in Sanders County. There is a theory to explain the social dynamics in this area, which is the conflict theory. The community leaders (bourgeoisie) of Sanders County deliberately allowed factories to enter this area to revitalize the economy. This lead to a change in social structure within the community, now the workers (proletariat) were competing amongst each other causing tension, which opposed their tradition of being a small community.
