Personal Narrative: A Beautiful Place

Improved Essays
Georgia is a beautiful place. There are tall trees, beautiful flowers, and clean air where I live. Friendly faces that say “Hello” when you walk by. Of Course, it 's not perfect but compared to where I used to live it 's a safe haven in its own way. I 'd like to go into detail about where I lived and how it 's different from where I am now. Georgia in a way shaped how I am today changing my attitude from not really putting in consideration to what others feel about trying not to offend people because I realized they have feelings too. So to understand how I am first you’re going to need to get a feel of where I used to be and where I came from.

First of all, we sound different, I’ve never noticed but New Yorkers tend to forget r’s where there are r’s either ignore it or just replace it. Like can I have “Yo Numbah” is said and not your number it might sound dumb but it 's actually something that is unconsciously done? Furthermore, I also noticed people are really polite here, they hold the door for you and say please and thank you... A lot. Not to say they don 't in New York but just not as often that I would 've noticed. Although If more people in New York were polite like that I’d notice if I didn 't have to run for the train every time it comes and the people inside ignore you. Where here they take the initiative to stop the train from closing if they can but it 's the thought that counts where in New York they only think about saving their own skin. Also, New York isn 't the cleanest place, not that I’m saying Georgia is significantly spotless but it 's way cleaner than the streets of New York where you 'll find dead rats and squirrels at every corner, rats the size of your whole arm also there 's trash everywhere and even poop on the sidewalks. It makes me appreciate the environment here even more because it 's actually relatively clean where I live now in comparison to where I lived in New York where there 's barely any trees to make room for these huge buildings and the air is so contaminated you can barely breathe. I love waking up and going for a walk in my neighborhood now because the air is so fresh, smelling like clean cut grass and I don 't have to look down the whole time so as to not step in crap like in New York, it 's a great

Years ago I left my home state of Alabama, where the skies are so blue and I moved to the not so great state of Montana. E. B. White makes it seem as though the entirety of New York is devoid of emotion and its inhabitants will only work for the sake of money in his Here is New York. He expresses this through the tone in which he describes New Yorkers. However, White betrays this depiction by subtly introducing a human emotion that has the potential to bud and spread through New York and make it feel more like the New York that we are used to. White shows his respect for New York by showing the ability of the city to change no matter how empty it may seem.…

In the book “The Other Wes Moore”, the four main concepts that can affect an individual’s life path is environment, personal responsibility, influence, and expectations. Environment and influences are related to each other because different environments have positive and negative influences within them. Personal responsibilities can vary greatly from person to person; some learn responsibility at a young age by doing chores or younger siblings while others never learn to take responsibilities for themselves or their actions. Then, expectations can be what individuals expect from themselves or what others around them expect them to do. However, I believe the four main concepts that shape a person’s direction of life are common sense, new environments,…
