My heart stopped. My sister was called. She was only 12 years old! I looked over at the parents, and they were shaking their heads because another 12 year old was chosen to play in the games. How, can my sister be chosen. She had one slip out of hundreds. I looked over and saw Prim walking out of the lines, to a Peacekeeper. I couldn't stand there and watch her walk into her own death.

I recognized him somewhere, but couldn't think where. He walked up white as a ghost, and shooked Effie’s hand. He stood by me, making us stand together, side by side.
“These are the victors of our 73rd annual Hunger Games for District 12! May the odds be ever, in your favor.” said Effie.
Those words brought chills down my spine. Before we got on the train, we were able to say goodbye to our families. Prim, Gale, and mother all showed up in tears. We didn’t really talk, we just were all hugging and crying. Before they left Prim told me I could win. I didn't believe her until she said I was a good hunter. Then I had confidence in myself.
Before they left, Prim handed me a golden pin. It was the one I gave her after our father died, to show her that she will be protected always. I hugged her goodbye and put the pin in my pocket. Peeta and I were on the train to the Capital an hour later. By the time we arrived, it was dinner time. I wasn’t hungry, but I ate because Effie said we were going to met our mentor, Haymitch. When Haymitch walked in, I knew from the start that he wasn't going to be any help what so ever, because he was drunk. “Congratulations.” said Haymitch as he passed out on the
