Personal Narrative: Finding Identity
I consider myself as the cosmopolitan person. I feel that we all should take care of and respect every person, thing or value. However, “the society is not the ideal place, where you get what you think of “(Perinbanayagam 25). It always jogs your memory about you, background from where you come and your limitation, rights and so on. In fact, I mostly find identity is the one concept by which people defines, designates, and categorizes the people. Hence, the thesis of the paper is- The thesis of this paper will focus upon my personal experience on the theme of identity when it is determined by race, class, gender and place.

It drew a massive rebukes from my society. They did not accept the concept of male, who looks after the children rather than earning the bread for the family. It really exasperated me. As a father, I was just overseeing my children and that was perfect from my family perspective. However, we cannot shove our understanding down anyone’s throat. This experience helped me realize that people really typecast the individuals, keeping gender category in the focus. In this category, sharing one more experience, based on gender theme, I had once tried to play the character of my lovely sister in one drama competition. However, being from Indiana, I was always considered as rude, fake, cheap or corrupt. Moreover, I was considered to be ignorant as having an education from Indiana schools. Because of which, I remained successful reasonably in this business. This is the special juncture, where, in my view, it is one of the defining moments in my life that hampers me to do well and enjoy the lion’s share in the life.
