Personal Narrative: Flattop

I woke up like any average morning. I got up to go see what we had to eat and to get a drink. I ended up making a strawberry Poptart and had a cup of water. As I was eating, I realized I hadn’t checked my phone at all. I saw that it was 9:00 am. Luckily it was Saturday so it didn’t really matter. I started playing a game on my phone when I started to think of what I was going to do today. I planned on it being a normal Saturday, lying around and playing games on my computer. After I was done eating, I went to lie down on my bed and play games. I lied there for about two hours, doing nothing but watching videos on my phone. I got a call from a friend of mine named Noah. “My family and I are going to hike Flattop, do you want to come?” he asked. I hadn’t climbed all of Flattop, so this would be a new and maybe fun experience. …show more content…
They picked me up around 1 o’clock. After they picked me up, we drove to Carrs to go buy water. We ended up buying a 24 pack of bottles of water. After that, we drove to Flattop. The ride itself was normal. Most of it consisted of me trying to pop my ears. When we got there, I prepared myself physically and mentally. As I was stretching, I thought of how hard it would be. I had never really climbed a mountain so I knew I was in for a hard time. As we were starting, I realized that the climb up would be a lot harder than the climb down because gravity would be pulling you down. While hiking, I grabbed a stick to help support myself later

11:00 am I wake up to a perfectly clean room with a perfect breakfast: sausage, pancakes, bacon, and cinnamon rolls all sitting right next to my bed. I eat my breakfast and get ready for the day. Piestewa Peak, located in the center of Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the highest mountains of this area and from its pinnacle, provides an advantage point for observing this upper section of the Sonoran Desert Region. It is a popular hike, but to reach the top can be challenging as often many hike shorter segments due to the ruggedness of the trail. One spring morning, I decided to join the ranks and attain the peak. As I head up the trail, I eventually realize that this journey will not be as easy as I anticipated and will require an internal muster of endurance as well as perseverance to reach summit. Starting off for the Summit Trail, I am greeted by fellow hikers also enjoying their morning exercise.…

When I was growing up and my brother attended high school, I always enjoyed going to Friday night football games and watching the best part of the game: the halftime show. While I sat in the stands, my brother would be marching sets, creating intricate formations and blasting his trumpet at fortissimo. I dreamed to be a part of the sets of formations and play difficult music at rapid tempos. Once I entered middle school, I immediately signed up for band and assigned to play the oboe, a woodwind instrument in the double reed family and, arguably, one of the most difficult instruments to master. I didn’t know then, but I later found out that this activity would push me out of my comfort zone and learn not only challenging sonatas and melodies, but also life skills I would need to achieve my goals.…

I got all dressed up to go see the motorcade, and put on a nice hat to cover my head from the sun. It was a fair day, may I say.…

Many people in my family had issues with substance abuse and addictions including my father. Although, I was raised by my mother and grandmother, my father’s actions and behaviors negatively impacted my life. When I woke up, I was alone in the house as usual, so it did not take much effort to remain uninfluenced. I have immediately recalled that that day was a non-conformity day, so I tried to behave as freely as possible. After a shower I had to wash my teeth and found that parents have bough a new dentifrice as they disapprove the previous one.
