Personal Narrative: How Divorce Changed My Life

Five years ago one of the worst incidents occurred in my life. My step dad and my mom split up. Although divorce is very common, when it strikes home it can drastically changed a life. For instance, I had to move to a new community and experience a whole new life. Even though I wish that my parents were still together, the breakup allowed me to learn a lot of important things about myself. One of the things that I learned when my parents separated is about money. I have seen both of my parents during the time that they were close to being bankrupt.This has taught me to go to school for four years for a degree and to learn to put money aside for a rainy day. During the end of seventh grade my uncle helped me to get over the separation and got me a job doing firewood. Some of the work that I did involving firewood are splitting, cutting, delivering, and taking it out of the woods. This opportunity allowed me to make some money to do what I enjoy and to see that i had skills of value. Another benefit about having a Stepfamily and allowed my Dad to become much happier over time.My dad received a better job after the divorce and made money to be able to purchase luxuries such as the boat and the new wood splitter. He married and had a son which his wife allowing me to have a stepbrother which I am super close with. This has allowed me to become a role model and now I think myself as more of an adult. I have learned to respect people a lot more and what manners do in life. Firewood has been a big part of my life for a long time and I spent a lot of time doing firewood each year with my dad. It helps me to gain muscle and to have responsibility to make sure that we have everything done before winter starts. I have become more of an adult as years have passed and the separation has allowed me to become more of one at an earlier age than most young men
