It seemed like a great idea, for the exception of the fact that I cannot cook. It would also turn out to be the most dangerous of all the camps. I worked with Jennifer again, along with Alex who was very calm and humorous, and Stefanie, who was passionate and caring. Like Andrew I would work with Alex and Stefanie a lot that summer. Great people. The most memorable part of that week was when I got burned. It was pancake day. We had to make about 40 pancakes for the kids to eat. Since I was the only guy counselor in the group that week, I was tasked with making them on the griddles after the kids mixed the ingredients. I was moving the griddles over to the outlets to get ready for the batter. As I brought the second one over, i did not realize that someone from the previous week had left one of the griddles switched on. I reached down to move one over, to make space for the second. Grabbing the edge an immediate wave of pulsating heat ran through my fingers. The searing pain felt like it lasted for minutes, even though i let go immediately. Those few seconds were enough to had left a solid line running through my three fingers where skin used to be, scaring them. I still have those marks on my hand today.
