I'm a first-generation immigrant from Hong Kong, arriving to the United States just 2 months after I turned 8 years old. My single mother and I moved around the US frequently during the first few years of our arrival in the country, staying with whichever relatives would take us in. As a young kid, I had to learn to mature quicker than my peers, and adapt to the constant changing environment that we move in to. It was an eCommerce store that focused on connecting with artists on Tumblr and helping them capitalize on their talent by putting their artwork on apparel and helping them gain a bigger exposure on the international platform. It was a cheap business to start, and I only used the $1,500 that I saved up from my part-time job to get everything set up. I had a deep understanding of how social media marketing worked, and used my expertise to market this store across all forms of social media and scaled the company little by little. Through learning experience from the success and failures of Trendyco, I started my second venture Fifthtee when I was 18. Fifthtee is an apparel brand that pledges a fifth of its proceeds to the Best Friends Animal Society, which provides sheltered animals with housing and medical care. I founded Fifthtee due to my passion for animals, and realized that I could create a company that is meaningful to me with my experience in eCommerce and fashion retail.
Recently, I founded Wonghaus Media, a digital marketing agency that specializes in developing viral contents for brands and products. My most notable project that I worked on was the Holy Meme Bible, which was a children's activity book that focused on the most viral Internet memes in 2016. As an immigrant founder, I try to recruit marginalized groups of people such as young students, LGBTQ, immigrants, and people of color in my ventures because I can understand the disadvantages that they may have in the business
