I thought to myself, I loved playing football and wrestling, all of my experiences during those seasons were awesome... and then came baseball season. The only sport which I have grown to hate. As I got out of my car walked through the grass to get to my team and start stretching to prepare for our last game, the smell of wet grass hit me in the face. My soccer cleats began to get wet and sink into the wet muddy grass as I walked.…

Throughout my short life journey, soccer has been an enormous part of my life. I began playing soccer at a young age; this is the point in my life when I fell in love with the sport. As I grew older soccer became less of a hobby, and more of a lifestyle. Today, I am literate in the sport of soccer, because I have proficient skills, and a firm understanding of the game. I consider myself very soccer savvy, however the most important literacies I have acquired from soccer were the life skills of hard work, dedication and perseverance.…

The passion I have for soccer is unexplainable. Soccer to me is not just a sport; it is more like my culture. I started as a fan of the sport very young, but with time passing by I have covered all the other roles in the sport. The referees are a big part of any sport. They are there to referee the game so it can go smoothly and it could be a fair match.…

The slick dirt pulling my back end around I move my hands, my automatic controls, the only thing keeping me from spinning out. The ups and downs, the highs and the lows, the twists and turns, life is just one big adrenaline rush and at times I feel I’m a junking, addicted to life.…

From the moment I took my first shot at the goal and shot it into the back of the net, I knew I’d always chase that feeling of euphoria. Sure, I played in the neighborhood to pass the time, but it was that first official goal that had me hooked. Sixth grade was when I began learning the technique, skill, and discipline that is required to become the next Ronaldo— or so we all hoped. Fast forward to today, I am on a traveling soccer as a midfielder. Admittedly, in the beginning it was a shock to have to step up to a new level of competition, but I quickly learned that to keep up, I had to be dedicated and dependable.…

My past few summers consisted of staying up all night, watching television, then sleeping during the day. It was a fun way to spend my summers, but it wasn’t satisfying. So, when the idea of spending three days a week, for eight weeks, playing soccer during the summer became a possibility, I had an odd feeling of motivation. Early into 2016, my interest in soccer was relit. Perhaps I wanted to be more like my brother, who’s serious in obtaining a career in professional soccer.…

I never thought there would be a day that I could not play soccer again until April 14th, 2016. Ever since I was three, I lived with a ball at my feet and fell deeper and deeper in love with the sport. I played on 3 to 4 soccer teams at a time and dreamed of going on to play professionally when I got out of highschool. That all changed with one doctor’s appointment. I had been experiencing pain in my hip…
