I have found myself to be in various leadership roles throughout my life. I was class president for three years in high school. I was captain of the Varsity Tennis team my senior year of high school. In college I founded the first Bollywood dance team at the University of Vermont and was President until I graduated in May 2015. With each role I have learned different skills but the most important being that a good leader must listen without judgment.…
As I mentioned in the previous assignment, I want to increase my baseline 500 steps each week so that by the end of the semester I am recording 10,000 steps which is in the active range. I will continue walking around the property at work and stepping in place whenever I possibly can. I will stick to walking to the mailbox which is two blocks from home as opposed to driving up to it on my way home. If I have days where I am tired I will just give myself another pep talk. I have a pretty good support system thus far so I will lean on them if pushing myself on my own does not cut it.…
Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…
Due to my experience I was moved into a Senior Master Sergeant Position in my work-center. During the first two month ’s it was very difficult for me to supervise six different nationalities, all the same rank as me. At first I wanted to put them all on the same standards as the Air Force, trying to instill our core value.…

Discuss a leadership experience you have had in any area of your life: school, work, athletics, family, church, community, etc. How and why did you become a leader in this area? How did this experience influence your goals? I was playing soccer with my friends in my neighborhood just a normal day everything looked as usual. But while I was playing soccer I was hearing a noise, not knowing if I am the only one who is hearing I felt deluded for a moment and stopped playing soccer and headed to the direction where the noise was coming from.…
An experience that displayed my ability to mentor was during my time helping out at Columbus Elementary School. There was one boy named Presley and he had trouble focusing, so I often ended up at his table trying to draw his attention away from his peers and towards his work. He was struggling with math, subtraction specifically and heavily relied on finger counting to do any problem. After about two weeks doing number lines and tally marks, he greatly improved and no longer needed any help for simpler subtraction.…
In the Human Services field I am very passionate about working with people in the deaf culture. I am passionate about working with this population because I know American Sign Language and I feel a connection to the community. Learning ASL took a long time and allowed me to be engaged in many events in the deaf community. I believe people in this population are not given nearly as much attention or opportunities as they should be. The lack of equal access to education, jobs, and basic interactions that hearing people take for granted is not fair and puts this population at a disadvantage therefore making it important for people to want to work with this group of people.…
My job as a Resident Advisor is to create an environment that is welcoming to all of my residents. This task is both exciting and daunting since one can have a floor made up of residents coming from all over the country, representing different backgrounds and socioeconomic upbringings. To build this environment you must get to know the residents and develop a true understanding of the background and diversity they bring to the floor. One of the moments that stuck out to me while trying to build this environment came from a conversation about Indian dance and the Punjabi culture. I was with a resident checking to see how she was adjusting to being away from home when she told how she found her fit on this team called Buckeye Bhangra.…

D. Ronald Ente Learning style Visual & Interpersonal learner Ron prefers using pictures, images, drawings or any visual source. My personal definition of leadership is the ability of one person to get another person or a group of people to come together to accomplish a common goal. The leader of the group is the one who sets out the agenda or goal. Your personal leadership style is something that is never finalized; however, it is a constant work in progress. Your life experiences and every single interaction you have throughout your life help mold and define your leadership style. According to Webster 's dictionary, the definition of leadership is, "a position as a leader of a group, organization, etc. : the time when a person holds the position of leader.…
