Switching Schools

Ring, Ring, Ring! My alarm clock went off. It was 6:15 A.M. (Thursday morning) and it was the very first day of 4th grade. I had recently switched to Hickman Elementary School, and was not sure if I was going to make friends on the first day of school. Like most kids on their first day of school, I was excited, but nervous. As soon as I know it, I was in the car on the way to school.

I did not know what to expect. All I knew was that my teachers name was Mrs.Hudson. When I walked in all of the desks were set up in groups of four. Mrs.Hudson had put me next to Allie, Allison, and Alyssa. She said that they were going to be my new best friends and show me around. I was glad that she said they were going to be my friends, but I also wanted to make friends on my own. At the time I was too shy to go and talk to other people. I would barely even talk to the three girls that were in my group. I knew that I could not be like this forever though, but this was still going to be a challenge to make friends.

I was sure that I would make friends on my own today. It was break time and I wanted to find new people to play with. I went over to Faith and Rebecca. “Hi”, I confidently said, “ what is your name?” I do not know why I asked this. It was the first thing that I could think of. “My name is Rebecca and her name is Faith” replied
