Personal Narrative: Taking Over The Summer

Improved Essays
Over the summer I did not do much at all. One thing I did do is play a lot of video games and binge watch shows and fixing Skyrim. There was this one game I played called ‘The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’ for the Playstation 4 (PS4). It had been on my overwhelming list of games I want to play and games I just want to have in my collection. The game itself took a huge chunk out of the money I had saved up for the summer. More the reason to spend time playing it otherwise it would be a waste of sixty dollars (not counting the tax) as well as the additional twenty dollars I spent on downloadable content.
I finished the game and the extra storylines in about a week and a half. At the moment I thought to myself ‘what now?’. Usually, when one finishes

Montana, the state where winter seems to never go away and spring seems to be only a few weeks and suddenly it is summer and seems even when naked your body is boiling and no matter the amount of ice filled cold water you can’t stay cool enough. Don’t get me wrong I love winters and wouldn’t trade Montana winters for anything in the world but at the same I also am an individual whose moods are highly dependent on the weather and so when the cloudy skies and freezing cold temperatures finally leave I feel like I have been reborn just like a phoenix rising from the ashes. I know spring has finally arrived and my mood will be a great one when I wake up and not only feel the sun’s ray warm my face, which even with the shades down have found a way to creep into the room, and hear the heavenly notes “chick a dee chick a dee” the cute small songbird has left his tree cavity and gladly is outside chirping away letting all and any alike that no longer do they have to savage and enjoy the freshly ripe nuts, fruits, and insects all around them.…

Sun shining overhead, the sound of waves gently rushing ashore, the slightly salty smell of the ocean, and the feel of my toes in the sand – this was what I had been anxiously awaiting for weeks. Spring break in Florida was an amazing seven days! Since my parents retired and bought a house in Florida, they have been spending their winters soaking up the sun, while the rest of us stay here in Kansas and suffer through the long, cold, dreary season. This year my kids and I were able to visit over spring break so we had a chance to enjoy the amazing weather and sites for ourselves.…

The Summer of 2015 provided me with an incredible learning experience. I worked as a counselor at a Jewish sleep-away camp, where I spent two four-week sessions supervising 20 ten-year old campers. Some of my responsibilities included planning and leading weekly programs for the Sabbath, developing team-building activities, and providing a fun, enjoyable, and safe environment for my campers 24/7. I accepted the position as a role model for these girls and was always "on top of my game."…

Being a high school student is composed of restless nights, and eight exhausting hours of classes in which you are obligated to stay awake in. A normal school day begins with me snoozing my alarm about ten times before my dad walks into my room telling me the dreaded “time to get up for school” reminder which I just take as a suggestion. Normally I will drag myself into the bathroom about ten minutes later to begin my routine. I spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom preparing myself for school and by the time I am done it is usually time to grab all of my things and barely catch the bus. Now this has to be my least favorite part of the day.…

It is the end of summer in St. Louis, Missouri. Saturday August 9, 2014 to be exact. It was a normal hot summer weekend, unfortunately it appeared to be normal until that heated afternoon. My family and I were leaving Walmart after buying groceries for our home, then suddenly we heard police sirens from afar. Unfortunately we did not pay it any notice because it’s almost normal to hear police sirens in St. Louis during the summer.…

The wind twists the limp, dangling branches of the willow tree. We lay, gazing upwards into the shifting leaves, backs resting on the softly slanted slope at the edge of the lagoon, toes playing with the grass, hair strewn as crowns around our heads. Laughter bubbles out of our lungs, the product of the pleasant summer’s day and the images our imaginations create from the simple words we speak. “What if willows ‘womped’? You know, like in Harry Potter?”…

Journal 4 Fall break for students is a time to relax and let your brain rest from all the work you been doing at school. The past few weekends I had been so busy that I did not get to do what I love. Being raised in the country since I was little has turned me into what people call a redneck. I go mudding when I get the chance, I do not mind getting a little dirty. Since school has started my weekends have consisted of homework, and trying to spend time with my son.…

I look forward to specific time of year, every year, summertime. There's many reasons why I look forward to it, the summer nights with my friends, being able to walk outside without layers of clothing, and being able to actually enjoy my time outside without freezing to death. However, there is one main reason I look forward to summertime, EDC. EDC is a carnival/concert that occurs every year. It always varies venues but for the past three years, Vegas has been its home.…

It’s that time of year again. Winter break is right around the corner and the one thing in the way of it are finals. Cramming begins when we have to learn an entire semester’s worth of information into our small over-stimulated brains just long enough for us to retain it for all those papers, tests, or presentations. It’s time for the stress and procrastinations to begin and a nice cold beer once you end.…

Hi everyone! In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I have summer homework that I have to do everyday. As I said in my last post, this is not necessary for all people to be successful, but I just feel like it helps my confidence the next year at school. In addition to doing summer homework, my mom also makes it a requirement for our summer. Of course, there are exceptions to doing the homework Like, I had a sleepover the night before and my friend ended up staying all day, or I have an intense summer camp that week.…
