I cannot believe how many soldiers have come in from the battlefield. I think at this point it must be on the upwards of 5,000 soldiers with casualties. The battle of Antietam Creek sure is a bloody one. What a shame.

Once I had stepped out of the barn, it was a completely different scene from when I had arrived. I was in complete shock. I had never felt this way or seen this many dead bodies. There were more bodies than I had ever seen. I am in utter shock. Going around flipping the bodies over to look for a name is one of the hardest emotional tasks I have had to do. The toll that this war is putting on me, can not be compared to that of the families of these loved ones who are dead. In the distance I could see Clara talking with a tall man wearing a hat. I was amazed, I assume that it is President Lincoln. When she returned and I had asked her a question on what she was talking to him

The most fascinating fact I learned today was about the Jefferson Memorial’s location in Washington, D.C. Even though this building’s placement looks very ordinary, there was a lot of controversy surrounding the placement of the memorial, and the historical connection with the other testaments to our founding fathers. Back in the 1900s, there was a commision to create a memorial honoring our 38th President Theodore Roosevelt’s contributions to American History. There was even a contest, and the architect John Russell Pope’s design was chosen for the memorial.…

As the powerful Colorado River churned beneath me, as it has for centuries, and the relentless sun peaked over the top of the North Rim, I could not help but feel astounded.
