Personal Narrative: The Person Who Changed My Life

Improved Essays
Almost everyone will meet, or has met someone in college that has significantly changed their lives. For me, it didn't take long at all for me to meet that person. I met her on our second day of college of our first semester, basically my second day of my entire college career. I didn't realize it right away, but over time I noticed that she was really changing my life. I would have never met this person in high school because first of all she lives in a different town, but even if we did live in the same town, or even went to the same high school, I still would have never known her because I didn't really branch out and make a lot of friends back then. I always hung out with the nerds, and my teammates from the baseball team, and she hung out with a completely different crowd that I wasn't associated …show more content…
Before I met her I was never really happy, and I went through my days feeling without a purpose. I looked forward to the day ending more than I looked forward to trying to make the day fun. I never met anyone with a personality like her’s before. I only hung out with my fellow nerds in high school, so we all pretty much had the same nerdy personality. She was not like this at all. She’s a very caring person. She’s full of sarcasm and jokes all the time, and is rarely ever serious, except when need be of course. But this easygoing, fun personality in someone is exactly what I needed in my life. She’s one of those types of people whose word is golden, and if she promises something to you, she will not break it. Out of all the people that I’ve met over the years that said they’d be there for me when I need them, she was the only one to prove it to me. She was the exact stability that I needed in my life that made me happy, and I actually started to have a positive outlook on

She was introduced to me through a friend, and on paper it should have been the perfect relationship. We both like movies, drinking, and sex. Any combination of those three made for a pretty good weekend. Sadly I have always been a firm believer of “the spark” (I have been ridiculed for that belief most of my life) and this relationship need something and that something was missing. I ended it a few times (I told you I was bad at breaking up) but it finally died from natural causes at the end of last year.…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

This building never contained one life changing event for me, but it has been a pivotal place in my life. A place I’ve referred to as home many times, the YMCA has shaped who I am as a man. This pivotal spot is where I suffered my first traumatic injury, changing how I do things for the rest of my life; but also was the place I went to when coping with family incidents. This institution, in particular the basketball gym, helped me find myself, changing my life forever.…

There are approximately 397,000 children in foster care in the United States of America currently and I used to be one of them. However, foster had not even been near the forefront of my mind that summer. The summer before I started my first year of high school, I had plenty of anxiety about the tall tale I invented in my own mind that stood before me. Stories about how hard high school were numerous and often regaled on the crowded bus ride home by high schoolers who seemed to have the knowledge of every wise teacher in history combined. which that scared me to death; I had always held my position as a good student who followed the rules of my middle school.…

Those are such attractive traits to have, in my opinion. I don’t think I would be the same person that I am today if I’ve never met her when I did or where I did. No one could find a reason to dislike her, and for 14 years I still couldn’t find that reason. Despite us not being able to be together like we used to because of the 8,000 mile distance between us now, she still feels like an…
