Personal Narrative: Why Adnan Is Not Guilty

The air was gunky. Every breath felt as if I had just inhaled two packs of cigarettes. There was noise all around me, people growing impatient from the long hours of waiting. Finally, my name was called out. As I walked down the long corridor towards the double doors I had an uneasy feeling about the verdict. I’ve made many mistakes in my life, but the one thing that I truly regret is befriending the new kid in school. From the first day that I met him things went horribly wrong. What readers should understand is that there was not even a small trace of Adnan’s DNA found at the scene in which Hae’s body was found, and no trace of DNA found on her body. There was no real solid evidence to link Adnan as the murderer. In episode six of Serial, “The Case Against Adnan Syed”, Sarah Koenig explained that the physical evidence against Adnan Syed was scant - a few underwhelming fingerprints. So aside from the cell phone records,what did the prosecutors bring to the jury, to share up Jay’s testimony? Sarah weighs all the other circumstantial evidence they had against Adnan, including curious behavior, a disconcerting note, and an unexplained mid-afternoon phone call? The evidence illustrates that the reason Adnan Syed was convicted was not based on evidence because there is no evidence here to convict him there is only suspicion. The evidence that is provided like a partial palm print is irrelevant because it was found in Hae’s car, the same car in which she and Adnan hung out in and she gave him rides.
