Since coming to UCCS my writing has changed quite dramatically. When I enrolled at UCCS I was sure that I would not need to complete any additional English courses. Given, I had previously completed a master’s degree with a CLEP credit for English, but that was not the case. The CLEP I had taken previously did not include the essay portion and did not meet UCCS transfer requirements as a result, I would need to take both ENGL 1300 and ENGL 1305. Looking back, this has been a blessing in disguise. Starting in grade school and until recently, sentence structure has been one of my greatest struggles along with spelling, grammar, paragraph transitions, and writing in the correct tense. Not letting this stop me I began to work on the fundamentals of sentence structure, grammar, and spelling starting with Ms. Ross in 1300. In the beginning of the course, I struggled with grammar, the rhetorical situation, and understanding what constituted a claim. Consequently, after working with Ms. Ross, and reviewing her in class examples, I was able to grasp these concepts and move on to 1305 with a solid foundation of knowledge.
Building on these concepts, in 1305 I wanted to challenge myself, by improving my transitions, writing in the correct tense and the overall flow of my paper from beginning to end. A few of the areas that Dr. Montoya identified …show more content…
Within, this section of the Podcast I was attempting to create credibility by means of showing the knowledge gained in two of the classes I have taken as part of the degree I am pursuing in Finance. I was able to tie this section into a statement that I made in the previous logos section to provide clarification trying to create common ground. Previously, I had spoken about high cost to open in underserved areas, this is easy to establish common ground as we all understand that we want to make money not lose
