Currently, my goal is to gain employment to decrease debt during my attendance at Eastern Arizona College and Arizona State University. However, obtaining employment here in Morenci, I feel that chances are low. However, I hope to overcome the obstacles by continuing to apply any type of positions to increase my chances of obtaining employment.
However, the BHAG, is to attend graduate school to acquire a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). I feel that this is the biggest challenge, considering the commitment, cost of attending, and the knowledge and experience. I feel that this is another obstacle that is similar to the planning of attending Arizona State University, at the beginning of Fall 2015. I had others who doubted me, the cost of attending ASU, and if I was capable of commitment myself to attend. Once I reach my BHAG, I would feel that I have finally obtain my goal. However, one of my major goals prior to returning to college, I have always desired to at least have an associate degree. Following the gaining of the associate degree, the next goal was to acquire a bachelor degree. Now that I will have my bachelor degree in couple of weeks, my next goal is MBA. It seems, once I reach one goal, it isn’t enough.
When the BHAG becomes a reality, I believe I would plan another goal to achieve and continue on with education or opening other businesses. It’s difficult to tell. I understand, BHAG involves planning 10-25 years out, but according to the, ‘Applying Goal Theory Based Performance Management Techniques To Improve Employee Motivation and Performance’, “The relationship between goal difficulty and performance is mixed when goal difficulty is extremely high”.
