Life Goals and Knowledge from Essay Writing: On My Specific Thesis and Ability to overcome analytical problems Every writer has his or her own strengths and weaknesses that differ from one another. In my English 120 class, i learned that good essays follow a format of an introduction, 2 or more body paragraphs, and a conclusion that all reflect the thesis. The intro must be extremely detailed, the body paragraphs must include supporting examples for the thesis, and the conclusion must summarize the whole essay. In my essays i reflect my ability to write specific thesis sentences which will further my future goal of transferring to the University of Las Vegas, …show more content…
Your father, mother, and the circumciser will take a cow from you as punishment.” with my own response of “Sexual intercourse is a sacred act and if you choose to have it before your ready, you could be faced with many problems.” As you see the response is horribly short and isn’t detailed at all. A good essay must reflect the ability to explain quotes with lots of details as well as be the same length of the quote itself. Without a great explanation of a quote the reader will get confused and not understand the point I 'm trying to get across. Managing my own construction company has always been a dream to me. As most contractors, my father tried owning his own company but failed sadly due to the economy. I hope to carry on this dream of owning a construction company and i owe all of it to my father for always being there for me. improving my ability to anayse quotes specifically will help me by giving me the ability to over come anything. During this process of fixing my weekness i will learn the skill to be very detail with grabbing the main idea of a quote and explain it thouroughly. The road to success isn’t going to be easy, but me being able to improve certain writing skills will help me in life but most importantly, it will help me achieve my goal of owning a construction

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. When I first started the rhetoric, inquiry and critical writing course I was unaware of the specific flaws in my writing assignments. During this course not only did I figure out my own style of writing, but I also learned about other writing styles and how I could incorporate them into my own writing. The constructive criticism given by my peers and professor improved my way of writing. The hardest obstacle I had to face while writing was staying on topic. I gave too much information about a general topic instead of focusing on a small portion and brainstorming from there.…

To me, writing has always been busy work and something that teachers only used to create grades. My writing experience in high school was very limited to one category in: practice AP essays. The writing I did in class was always preparing for AP exams and was very fact based. Most essays, such as history, were only used to show that I knew the material and weren’t graded on how good the writing was. I didn’t feel like I had any freedom to stray away from the format that the AP graders expected because I didn’t want that to affect my score.…
