“5,000 students on a three-track schedule, with about 3,300 in attendance at a given time”. Honestly while reading I imagine the environment surrounding the high school and also the inside problems and I thought to myself I wouldn’t want to attend this school either. Sometimes the environment and resources surrounding students play into the attendance rate, and also these issues can steer students from learning. I believe faculty and staff at Fremont high, can try to dress up the school to make it more welcoming for students who spend 8 or more hours at the school. One being an advancement placement and the other being a public highschool. “Why is it, that students who do need what we need get so much more? And we who need it so much more get so much less” – Mireya. The transition from the advancement school to a public school was harsh. Many resources that were provided at the other school lacked at the public school I moved to.
The enviroment I was use to was interrupted, I felt and was treated almost as a child. The quote above I truly agree with, it’s like schools that house minorities are forgotten about. Students aren’t given hope, its only to believe that students who attend public schools will soon be working at fast food restaurants.
