Students that play sports have dedication and lots of focus to the sport and can help them in school and keep them occupied. ”On-the-field success and high participation in sports is not random--it requires focus and dedication to athletics.” (Bowen and Hitt)
Context
Some people believe that high school sports should not be played because it has a direct relation to students academics. The people who do not believe that students should be allowed to participate is because the thought is if you are dedicated to sports and dedicated to having on-field success, test scores in the classrooms drop. Every parent wants to see their child do well and everyone student wants to be dedicated. Everyone wants to cheer on their friends and see them do well. So for the people who don’t like high school sports because they think it gets in the way of academics, they clearly do not know the impact they have on students and have not read enough to know that student-athletes take pride in their academics. These people also do not know how sports helps students socially and keeping them in school. There is no reason why sports should hurt students and they do not in anyway. Try to add on and fix this.
