Horton Hears A Who Analysis

“All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” (The Declaration of Independence). This quote from the United States Declaration of Independence recognizes that every human being has the right to live, be free, and search for happiness. Over one million American babies are denied these basic rights every year due to abortion (“Abortions in America”). Abortion is murder, and should only be legal in cases where the mother’s life is in danger. To determine whether or not abortion should be legal, you must first decide the point at which a fetus is considered alive. I and many others believe that life begins at the moment of conception. A professor of pediatrics and obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Alfred M. Bongiovanni, agrees, adding, “I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life” (Alcom). Although Dr. Seuss is not a medical doctor, he indirectly and probably unintentionally referenced this issue in his popular children’s book, Horton Hears a Who.
