The student, Hayden Stoner, comes into class without any of his materials for class. The teacher, Mrs. Schumacher, asks him if he could go get a pencil. Hayden told her yes but also added that he would be tardy. The bell rings and Hayden dashes out of the room to go back to his lock for at least a pencil.
The class has already begun reading aloud when Hayden comes back in quietly with paper and pencil in hand. Another student makes a comment about how many times Hayden has worn the shirt he is wearing. Hayden comments back about the student being wrong and the teacher stops the conversation at once.
Hayden begins to write his vocabulary word down, he gets up to get his reading book and passes several books to other students as he walks back
