Persuasive Essay On Helmet Safety

The individual learns by observing the behavior of others and evaluation the apparent consequences in order to make a behavioral decision. The Helmet safety campaign uses three individuals in their campaign, two without helmets and one with a helmet. The first two suffered from injuries that could have been avoided if they were wearing helmets. The last campaign picture was a woman wearing a helmet showing that she did not sustain any injuries because of the helmet. Statistics show that when wearing your helmet will reduce the risk of brain injury by 88 percent, the risk of head injury by 85 percent and the risk of mid face by 65 percent. Wearing your helmet can save you from injuries by a great amount. Having more bikers wear their helmets and promoting the campaign slogan “No Excuses. Wear a Helmet” will have other bikers join. Seeing everyone else wearing their helmets will make a ripple effect. By the bikers observing other bikers wearing helmets, they will also start to wear helmets. It is always safer to wear a helmet than to not wear a helmet. Having those posters spread throughout Boston with the two of the posters being graphic and one showing what it looks like to wear a helmet will make bikers wear helmets. Showing what could really happen if you do not wear your helmet will catch biker’s eyes. This method will have a ripple effect making other biker’s want to wear their helmets. Once you have their attention it will be easier to get everyone to wear their helmets. This is why you have to take a graphic approach to the campaign. Showing people getting hurt will change the behavior of others. Catching the attention of one could have an effect on all. The social cognitive theory states that people learn from what they observe. Once everyone sees that they are wearing helmets and following bike safety, everyone will join
