Statehood Day is a holiday to commemorate Hawai’i on becoming the 50th state in the U.S. on August 21, 1959 (It has not been 50 years yet since Hawai’i had become a state), and should be celebrated as a holiday to remember how important it was for Hawai’i to become the last, and 50th state of the U.S. Before Hawai’i became a state, Hawai’i was a territory claimed by the U.S. on January 17, 1893, but 5 years after Hawai’i was annexed and was used as the U.S. Navy base during the Spanish-American war. Statehood Day should not be celebrated as a holiday. Though Statehood day, is a holiday to commemorate Hawai’i on becoming the 50th state, Statehood day should be known, but not as an admission day.
