Plagiarism On A Math Test

Improved Essays
I, in my time's past, was subjected to an accusation of plagiarism on a mathematics test. This not only brought down my grades horrifically, but made fear and disgrace fill my body. For the extended period of a month, I was despotic toward myself. No matter the effort that I had placed into my work, I couldn't evade the ever so gradually amplifying fear that my grade would never advance once more. Ascending through the diverse grade percentages was an overbearing task to accomplish, but I triumphed through it. I worked hour after hour with the intent of finding what I wrote incorrect on the test, and what I could complete to fix my errors. This failure was an excruciating period of which all I could bring myself to process was my stubbornness

The difference between Plagiarism and Self- Plagiarism is that Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty when used someone’s ideas, words or images as one’s own without properly crediting the person or citing the source of information. On the other hand, Self-plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty by which a student uses an old assignment or part of previous assignment and submits it as new work without citing the original work. I believe self-plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity. As a student, we are encouraged to make our writing unique, original and creative.…

No plagiarism detected We were a high strung group of kids and more often than not my teacher would walk into class with us in tow crying our eyes out for what ever reason. Whether we were stressed out or just having a bad day we never failed to cry at least once a week in AP World History class. Because of this my wonderful teacher came up with a solution. He proposed that since we were a bunch of cry babies who could barely make it through a quiz before the water works started up that everyday at the end of class we would meditate.…

The school had just gone off for winter break. I was excited to be free of homework for two weeks I thought to myself. As days past I would just relax by sleeping in more than I would usually and play video games with some friends and my cousins. Then Christmas came out of nowhere and I got to see relatives that I haven't seen for in years at my grandma's house that had been decorated with big old-fashioned Christmas lights.…

The day we expected to get our assignments back, I felt calm and confident. When I received my paper and saw what my grade was and the comments my teachers made, my whole mood changed. The grade and the remarks were nothing of what I expected, and the grade was well below what I normally score. After this assignment I started to give up because I did not think I would ever do as good and that my writing, in fact, did not improve at all, but Mrs. Moore told me not give up and to keep trying. The talk we had made me realize that I need to learn from this experience and continue to work hard and do my absolute best.…

The fact that a plagiarism scandal cultivates in an institution that persistently impales students with honorary statements exhibits the catastrophic flaws of these rules. These protocols are merely a glimpse in a student’s memory since the pressure impaled from these tests swiftly defeats the agreement to integrity, which solely recall students for a few…

“You cheated”, slipped from my mouth. I was referring to my English Class. Frustration, filled my voice as I was disappointed in myself because I received a B. In my life I have only ever got one B and for reasons beyond my control and to complex to be explained. However, this B feels like my first real B. It resembles the first course that has ever conquered me. The whole time I have been striving to get A’s not for my gpa but for myself because it was something attainable that I was certain I could accomplish and that seemed to solely rest upon me.…

Honestly, I am not a very motivated person. I tend to try hard in school for the sole purpose of receiving an A. I never had thought of learning as an activity, but rather a priority. A priority that exists once again, for the purpose of getting an A. In my head, if I received an A, I would feel secure and my life would be able to move along smoothly. Receive a B, and my whole world would stop. Sadly, it seemed almost impossible for me to receive even close to a B when it came to writing.…

The following months passed, and I began to reflect on the significance of this setback and what it meant for my own character. Maybe I didn’t deserve to be accepted, but one truth was undeniable; I had put all of my effort into my application. My dedication and commitment to tasks, both inside and outside the classroom, helped me to cultivate the skills needed to succeed in challenging situations, to face the unknown in the future. Every obstacle in life could be seen as a reason to admit defeat or, on the other hand, an opportunity to overcome and learn from. If I had been accepted on that day, it’s possible that I never would have learned that…

Even when I do everything possible to succeed, it is still possible to fail. Since this experience dealing with failure has become much easier even though I strive not to fail. This situation has helped me deal with many school failures, such as my end of the quarter test. Similar to my slump, my last quarter of Government was not showing the type of student I am, and there was one last shot to get the grade up. I know that failing that test didn't mean I wasn't smart, but instead, it wasn’t my day as luck wasn’t on my side.…

Sitting in a hard plastic chair in my math class I felt paralyzed. The heat in the room was unimaginable on the cool autumn day. I could not be the only one that was feeling it. At the same time I could barely keep head straight as the math test stared back at me with harsh eyes telling me “you will never be able to pass this class,” in a slithering tone. A drop of sweat rolled down the side of my face.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

I acted out on emotion and was terrified because I knew that this assignment would have a big impact on my overall average in the class. However, it was not my intention to plagiarize for I just forgot to cite my sources after I was done typing the essay. I remember that morning after my first class I took a nap and my alarm was set to wake me up 30 minutes before my next class was suppose to start. When I got up, I checked my syllabus to see what I was going to need for that class today and I noticed that I had a paper due. I started to panic and I started to type as quickly as I could.…

When I was notified of the inadvertent ethical violation, I was mortified. Not because of any consequence necessarily, but because of the mere idea that my integrity or moral beliefs would be questioned. I did not mean to imply that those ideas belonged to anyone besides who I cited, albeit incorrectly. I could not believe that I allowed myself to make such a simple but catastrophic mistake. How is it that I came to the decision that the reference should be cited it parenthesis when clearly it should have been quoted?…
