Identifying the reasons why the United States of America’s founding framers established the unique governmental framework is just as important as recognizing them. In a time when the framers were actively trying to quell individual political ambitions and prevent the reintroduction of a tyranny, they turned to the separation of power and checks and balances. The idea was to separate powers across the political spectrum, which would then prevent any one branch from amassing a concentration of power. Also, each branch is granted the power to check any action taken by its cohorts. Furthermore, the fact that the U.S. Constitution was the first written document of its kind only emphasizes the circumstances that the framers could not have drawn from past documents success or failures.…

Whenever making a tough decision, whether it be in a classroom, with friends, or on a sport team, the saying has always been majority rules. Whatever the largest sum of people want tends to always win. This idea correlates directly with our government today. Majority tyranny is a bigger threat than minority tyranny to American democracy today because the size and power that majority groups obtain make it easier to gain control or possibly overthrow our government. In federalist paper 10, James Madison talked about the threats that factions pose in our government today.…
The factors to incorporate into the American perspective on polarization include the media’s influence, political ideologies, and interpreting the election results. American citizens, especially millennials, act out of greed and are driven by self-gain. “This pole proves that millennials have totally incoherent political views” shows that citizens do not intentionally see politics as polarized but rather as an act of self-interest. Therefore, the American citizens have varying opinions on subjects and policies depending upon whether the political issue could help or harm…

From watching the frontline documentary and reading the book, I think that interest groups have too much influence in American politics. Interest groups are seen to be everywhere in the nation and I believe that by them creating a great deal of controversy helps to create a division between the government and its people. Interest groups first objective is not political influence but simple survival, which helps to shape a group’s political activity. The issue that I see constantly arising is that the American government is more responsive to special interest rather than public interest. This often results in the public being disappointed with the way the political system is set up and making individuals feel as though they’re at a loss.…
