In both poems we see similarities and differences. We see outward expression in “The wounded deer leaps highest”. Right before death, the deer is the strongest, the same thing is said for disease. In the final stanza, however, we see a different feeling, it shows hiding your emotions in case someone “spy[s] the blood”. Which is to say that you have to be strong so people don’t see the agony within.
